My Hallelujah

Hallelujah. This word invokes so much beautiful imagery. I see an Artist painting the sky in the most beautiful and audacious colors. With each purposeful brush stroke, His glory becomes ever more evident; His goodness, ever closer, and His divine nature, even more awe-inspiring. Hallelujah is an invitation. Our hallelujahs usher in the presence of our Master Artist. When we offer our hallelujahs, we are saying- “Come Lord, you are welcome here.” In hallelujah, heaven collides with earth, and the sound of heaven becomes etched in our spirit.

Reflect on this thought: “What does my hallelujah look like?”

“Let me see your radiant face and hear your sweet voice.
How beautiful your eyes of worship and lovely your voice in prayer.”
— Song of Songs 2:14b TPT

Start with marvel.

If you don’t know how to activate your hallelujah, start with marvel. To marvel means to be filled with wonder and astonishment. Worship is a personal experience. Engage in a personal wonderment, calling out God’s goodness, favor, and character. Let him know who He is to you. Shower Him with praises. Customize them. In every season of life, He shows up and reveals new parts of Himself to us. Call them out. Acknowledge them by name. He wants to hear from YOU. He wants to see your face, so intimately depicted in your worship.

“For God’s mighty miracles astound me! His wonders are so delightfully mysterious that they leave all who seek them astonished. Everything He does is full of splendor and beauty! Each miracle demonstrates His eternal perfection. His unforgettable works of surpassing wonder reveal His grace and tender mercy.”
— Psalm 111: 2-4 TPT

Lean into your worship identity.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
— Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Our hallelujahs are evidence of God’s artistry in us. God created us to display His unique craftsmanship. Each one of us bears a distinct mark of His likeness. From this, we all receive giftings, distributed as He sees fit. Worship is like our spiritual fingerprint, a divine intersection of our unique giftedness, story, qualities, interests, and personhood, interwoven into a beautiful tapestry, and presented to the King. Learn how He made you, and lean in. Explore how He created you. We were all made to worship, but that looks different for everyone. No one worships like you!

Be creative.

“Look at the splendor of your skies, your creative genius glowing in the heavens. When I gaze at your moon and your stars, mounted like jewels in their settings, I know you are the fascinating artist who fashioned it all. But when I look up and see such wonder and workmanship above, I have to ask you this question: ‘Compared to all this cosmic glory, why would you bother with puny, mortal man or be infatuated with Adam’s sons?”
— Psalm 8:3-4 TPT

When I read this verse, I see colors exploding off the page. The vibrancy and imagery displayed is earth-shattering. Have you ever stopped to think about how truly creative God had to be to create the entire universe? The Milky Way, the stars. the galaxies, peonies, butterflies, zebras, you, me! He is so fun and imaginative, and He doesn’t color in the lines! Since we are made in the image of God, we have the permission and freedom to be creative. Be creative as He is creative! Let your worship flow from you as an expression of our awesome God. Don’t be afraid to get a little messy in your worship. I’m talking mascara running down your face messy, on your knees messy, dancing like no one is watching messy.

Don’t allow teachings that you have received about what worship is and isn’t define your boundaries. We serve a limitless God, so your capacity for worship is limitless! Sister, be encouraged! God delights in the heart of His daughters. He receives your worship like a proud parent gifted a hand-drawn masterpiece. In His eyes, your offering is the most beautiful thing He could receive.

Your hallelujah is enough.
